Stay tuned!

We’re looking for a better suited space, and once we find one we’ll be up and running

We are the brave ones

who show up to build resilience in our bodies

for inner and outer change

Resilient Body is a trauma-informed dance practice designed to build our capacity to be in the unfamiliar, the uncomfortable, and all things challenging.

Resilient Body is…

a deep healing journey.

a place to expand your capacity for all that life throws at you.

an opportunity to discover the braver, stronger, more resilient you.

We are in an era of deep change.

This can make us feel unsteady, uncertain, exhausted, maybe even hopeless.

Now more than ever it’s vital that we find our strength, resilience and agency to create the world we want.

Engage a dance practice that supports trauma integration so there is more space for joy, celebration, belonging, agency and change.

Through dance, movement, somatic resourcing and community harvesting…

✦ discover how your body defends itself from deep-seated change

✦ transmute deeply buried trauma

✦ expand your capacity to be in the good hard work of being human

✦ find community of people who care as much as you do

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Odessa Avianna Perez is a trauma-informed somatic psychotherapist, embodiment and social justice facilitator who helps individuals and groups find right relationship with themselves, each other and the larger world.

Odessa holds an MA in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies and triple bachelor degrees in Dance, Theater Arts, and Sociology from Rutgers University. She has been facilitating groups using dance and movement for self-revelatory exploration and healing since 2005. She has over 2 decades of dance performance experience, and has been teaching Contact Improvisation as a form of self inquiry and relationship alchemy for over ten years. Alongside her psychotherapeutic work, she facilitates dance, somatic and relational workshops and retreats throughout CA and internationally.

What to expect:

(1) A safe-Enough / Brave Space

Each workshop begins with somatic resourcing and community agreements, so we do our best in creating a safe-enough container to move some deep material.

(2) the good hard work

We focus in on something challenging (or maybe even triggering) and let body-wisdom and dance help us build tolerance to be with the challenge. The trauma-informed facilitator offers prompts to move with the challenge, not away from.

(3) A more Resilient you

A get-down, dig-deep dance journey invites your body to show you that the way out is through. Arrive at more awareness, confidence, ease and clarity, and find more space for joy and celebration.

What People Are Saying

“eyes and hearts wide open.”

“In just sixty minutes facilitated by Odessa, I moved through so much grief - of a personal loss, and of the current state of the world. During the whole process we were encouraged to not stay stuck, to not shut down to overwhelm, and to face the challenges with our eyes and hearts wide open, our nervous systems regulated. I am so grateful for this work and all it has taught me in such a small potent amount of time.”

~ Selysa Love,
Founder of Sacramento Reiki Center

“It’s so simple and so powerful.”

“It was a space to move through so many emotions and fears and anxieties. It’s one of the only times I have allowed myself to go into feeling and expressing grief about the internalized racism within me and in our society. There’s some thing about having that space, in a group, everyone being nonverbal, that gave permission to explore deeper more painful thoughts, feelings, and beliefs than I have in more talk-based workshops. I am excited to see where this work continues to evolve. It’s so simple and so powerful.”

Filmmaker, workshop Facilitator
